Life is short and the planet is big, so how do you decide where to travel to? “Time” magazine has some ideas. Their annual list of the World’s Greatest Places has just come out and you’re going to want to have your passport ready to see them.

The 2024 list features 100 spots chosen by their team of editors, up from 50 locations on 2023’s list.
While previous lists have focused mostly on cities, this year’s list features specific establishments and destinations for travelers.

The “Places to Stay” category includes:

Modern Elder Academy in Santa Fe, New Mexico - Described as the world’s first “midlife wisdom school,” it offers workshop retreats in stylish, well-appointed surroundings.
Kantishna Roadhouse in Denali National Park, Alaska - The only Indigenous owned and operated lodge in the park, and it’s fly-in only.
Boca de Agua in Bacalar, Mexico - This destination is all about sustainability, its 22 treehouse-style villas are built around the mangroves, immersed in a jungle, with 90% of the hotel’s 82 acres remaining untouched.
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Koh Samui, Thailand - Located on Thailand’s second largest island, this five-star resort is also where the next season of the HBO series “White Lotus” will be filmed.

The “Places to Visit” category includes:

Maui Cultural Lands in Lahaina, Hawaii - It’s one of the longest running indigenous-owned nonprofits in the area that gives visitors “hands-on ways to give back on their vacations.”
Kamba African Rainforest Experiences in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Republic of Congo - Located in national parks, each ecotourism trip here is limited to 12 people.
teamLab Borderless Digital Art Museum inTokyo, Japan - This immersive art experience features installations that are “designed to flow seamlessly to the next one.”
