Washington Redskins Landon Collins Talks About Sean Taylor And His Number

Safety Landon Collins is now a Washington Redskin taken from their divisional rival, the NY Giants, during free agency and immediate talk began to speculate around what number the 3x Pro-Bowler would wear.

In New York, he wore 21 after he was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft...but it was originally unclear if he would carry that number down to the DMV because that number belonged to Washington Redskin Great The Late Sean Taylor, who was murdered during the 2007 season by a burglar who intruded his home. No Redskins' player has worn #21 since, with the exception of former S Ryan Clark, who wore it during a practice as a tribute to Taylor.

On March 27, the Redskins revealed that Collins will be wearing #20.

Landon has touching words about Sean at his introductory press conference to Washington DC, he revealed that Daniel Snyder, the organization's owner, gifted him with an autographed Sean Taylor jersey that he wore on the field.

"I instantly broke down...straight into tears," Collins said of the gift. "He tried to hand me the box and I couldn't grab the box. I couldn't move. Shaking.
