Tommy On Vince Neil: ’Nobody Sounds Like Him’

Four Mötley Crüe members recently sat down with Allison Hagendorf for an interview and Tommy told the following about Neil:

“Being friends for that long and then being in a band with him, there’s something special that Vince has that absolutely nobody else has and that’s his f*cking voice. Nobody sounds like Vince. That’s a big deal to say because so many people sound and look like other people and aspire to be like somebody else. Vince is Vince. This is a beautiful thing. I love him to death.”

Following Tommy, another Crüe member, Nikki Sixx also commented on Vince’s voice:

“I love Vince because he doesn’t overthink things. He is our audience. When I talk to Vince about things, he won’t overthink it. He’ll just tell it how it is. I always appreciate I can lean on him as a friend. He’s been one of my best friends forever. And without that voice, I wouldn’t be sitting here today. That voice changed my life. And I get to write lyrics for this guy. And every time I write, I hear his voice. This is, I feel, such a privilege.”

Fans often say Vince doesn’t sing as well during live shows as he used to. They think he has trouble hitting high notes and keeping his singing consistent. Fans were excited when Neil announced solo concerts, but his first performance in May 2021 didn’t go well. He had to leave the stage in the middle of a song because he said his voice was gone.

Mötley Crüe will take the stage on June 21 at Summerfest 2024. They will have one more show on June 23 at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. Their other gigs are scheduled for July and August.
