Violet Grohl Joins Lineup For Reading & Leeds Festival

Violet Grohl is joining the lineup for a pair of festivals in the U.K. The daughter of Dave Grohl will play at the Reading and Leeds festivals, which take place simultaneously over the same weekend.The news comes ahead of her debut album release, "Be Sweet to Me," on May 29th. Headliners for the festivals include Florence and the Machine and Fontaines D.C. The festivals take place from August 27th to August 30th.

Wolfgang Van Halen, son of legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, credits his father's drum-first approach to teaching him music for his multi-instrumental proficiency. Starting on drums helped him develop a strong rhythmic foundation that he applies to guitar and bass playing. Courtney Love was upset when Melissa Auf der Maur left Hole to join The Smashing Pumpkins, especially since Melissa would be touring with Courtney's ex, Billy Corgan. Melissa joined The Smashing Pumpkins in 1994 and left Hole after five years to tour with the band. Despite the drama, Melissa praised Billy Corgan's work ethic and the intense demands of the band's live shows. Melissa and Courtney will reunite on Courtney's upcoming solo album, marking a happy ending to the story of Hole.

Documentary On Eels Frontman In The Works

A documentary on Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett, known as E, is in the works. The project was announced Thursday and is titled "The Way I Was Made: The Story of a Man Called E." The documentary is being co-produced by Judd Apatow, who says he's always thought E's story would make for a "fantastic documentary."A release date for the doc is currently unknown.

PAUL McCartney: Gets Intimate in L.A.

Having done theater and club shows last year in New York and Nashville, Paul McCartney

scaled it back again on Friday and Saturday at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Instead of his usual 30-plus songs, he did 23 on Friday and 24 on Saturday with the same 20 being played over both nights. The ones that only received one play were "Love Me Do," "Flaming Pie" and "Jet" on Friday, and "Band on the Run," "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Something" and "From Me to You," for which he asked for a Beatles' scream from the audience, on Saturday. Among the celebrities seated in the balcony were Ringo Starr, Taylor Swift, Elton John, Harrison Ford, John Hamm, Reese Witherspoon, Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis, and Sharon Osbourne. While McCartney didn’t acknowledge them by name, he did say, “How you doing upstairs, up in the expensive seats, I see. And all the poor people down here.” There was a two tickets-per-customer limit, and registering for them did not guarantee access. The shows were phone-free as they were required to be secured in Yondr pouches, but guests were able to maintain possession of their phones at all times. The shows came after McCartney announced on Thursday his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, and it's first single, “Days We Left Behind,” which he did not perform. The album will be out on May 29th.

RUSH: Found Their Way Back To the Stage

The relaunched version of Rush with drummer Anika Nilles gave their first public performance Sunday night. They made their Juno Awards debut -- Canada's Grammys -- by opening the show at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with "Finding My Way," the first track off their 1974 self-titled debut album. It's also believed to be their first performance as a four-piece as keyboardist Loren Gold, who they hired for the tour, rounded out the line-up. He's played with The Who for the last 12 years as well as Chicago. Backstage after the performance,

Geddy Lee talked about why they chose that song. "You really can't ask us what song to play. If we have to choose one song it's almost impossible. We have so many. So we just asked management, and they said first song, first album." And Alex Lifeson joked, "Also it's the only song we know how to play."

Their performance was accompanied by video screens showing them throughout the years. Ironically, it was their first drummer, John Rutsey, who played on the original recording as his replacement Neil Peart came on board for their second album, 1975's Fly By Night. Rush will start their Fifty Something tour on June 7th with the first of four shows at the Forum in Inglewood, California, where they played their last show on August 1st, 2015.

ROLLING STONES: Future Lies in Keef's Hands?

In December, it was reported that The Rolling Stones' plan to move their UK and European tour from 2025 to '26 hit a snag when "Keith Richards said he didn’t think he could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months.” Richards, who turned 82 on December 18th, has long battled arthritis in his hands and is typically the one band member who is always pushing for them to perform. He's now opened up about his struggles in an interview with Guitar World, saying he plays fewer notes "because I'm not as fast as I used to be. “At my age, what I find most interesting about the guitar is you can compensate for certain disabilities and nimbleness and find other ways of getting around the problem. And it teaches you another thing – you never stop learning with the damn thing. I love it, and it's my friend forever.”

To help him compensate, he's using a wider fingerboard. "Well, I do have arthritis and very large knuckles. They don't hurt, but it does get in the way sometimes. I'm going for a wider fingerboard for that reason. “Honestly, I just look at my hands, and my hands look at me, and we say, ‘Well, let’s see what we can do today.’ And that's the way I play guitar. I look at it and say, ‘We've got nothing else to do. Come Here. I love you!’” The Stones last performed in their native England in 2022, and their last show was on July 21st, 2024 in Ridgedale, Missouri. The album they recorded last year is scheduled to be out later this year.

LED ZEPPELIN: 50+ Years Later

Jimmy Page was in the news Sunday as he posted on YouTube his "original home demo" of Led Zeppelin's "Ten Years Gone." He posted a note with the song, writing, "As a footnote to [the] Physical Graffiti [album], I thought you might like to hear the original home demo, recorded in my studio at Plumpton Place of a piece of music that was going to surface as '10 Years Gone'. "I presented this rough mix to the band at Headley Grange in order to do this for real. Robert Plant came up with some lyrics for my music that were extraordinary and then we arrive at the song '10 Years Gone'." Last September, Zeppelin celebrated the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti -- their sixth album, released in February 1975 -- by releasing Live EP, which contains live recordings of "In My Time of Dying" and "Trampled Under Foot" from London's Earl's Court in 1975, alongside "Sick Again" and "Kashmir" from Knebworth in 1979. They also released an updated 50th-anniversary edition of the 2015 deluxe edition of Physical Graffiti.

ALLMANS, TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND: A Beacon Reunion

The Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped up their 10-show residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City Saturday night with a partial Allman Brothers Band reunion. Allmans drummer Jai Johanny Johanson — a.k.a. Jaimoe — came out to join his old bandmate Derek Trucks and the band for most of their second set, starting with TTB's "Made Up Mind" and including covers of Sly and the Family Stone's "You Can Make It If You Try" and "Everday People" and The Rolling Stones' "Loving Cup." Then during a cover of Ben E. King's "It Aint Fair" fellow Allmans guitarist Warren Haynes walked out to trade solos with Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, which then led into a version of the Allmans' "Dreams." They followed that up with a 15-minute take on "Whipping Post."

The encore saw Cyndi Lauper join them to duet with Tedeschi on The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends," which they did together last November at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in tribute to Joe Cocker, who along with Cyndi, were inducted that night. (Earlier on Saturday, Cyndi performed 31 blocks south at Madison Square Garden at the Thank You, NYPD concert honoring New York City’s first responders.) The concert marked the 236th time that Derek Trucks has played at the Beacon Theatre.

JOHN MELLENCAMP: Softy at Heart

While John Mellencamp typically displays a gruff exterior, he proved what a softy he can be last Thursday at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles. Presented with the Icon Award by his oldest child, reality TV star daughter Teddi, who is battling stage 4 cancer, Mellencamp ended up being the presenter. I’m going to take this award and I’m going to give it to Teddi. So that’s yours. I’ve been doing this 50 years and I’ve enjoyed most of it. And I want to say that for all you young people who are starting out, there’s nothing closer to heaven than writing a song, or hearing your songs on the radio, or having a show. So, good luck to all you young people, and I hope that you guys enjoy your 50 years as much as I did mine.” Mellencamp then did an acoustic set of “Jack & Diane” and “Little Pink Houses.” Teddi is Mellencamp's daughter from his second wife, Victoria Granucci.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM: Reunions in Store?

Lindsey Buckingham is feeling a little cryptic and a little nostalgic. He's posted a video on Instagram that suggests that a reunion with Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac or both is in the works. Here's what he said: "Just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale that seems to be something that's in the air. And, what that translates to specifically I wouldn't want to speculate yet, but I believe with all my heart it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate." Lindsey doesn't want to speculate yet, but we will. Here are a few possibilities:

Fleetwood Mac reuniting to pay tribute to Christine McVie who died in 2022.
Fleetwood Mac are reuniting for a farewell tour.
Lindsey and Stevie are doing a tour or show.
Or, since Buckingham referenced what's going on in Washington, D.C. in the video, perhaps a large-scale show to encourage us not to "stop thinking about tomorrow." In 1992, then Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton used Fleetwood Mac's 1977 hit "Don't Stop" as his campaign song/them, symbolizing a focus on the future.

We reached out to Stevie for a comment and her spokeswoman told us, "She’s not going to comment. That's not her style."

Reunion or not, Lindsey is excited about 2026. He says, "Despite what's going on in Washington, I think it's going to be a very good year. Or maybe because of what's going on in Washington." Starting with the album he's been working on for "the last couple of years," he says he's "one song away" from finishing it, adding that it's "certainly in the future for this coming year." And the documentary Fleetwood Mac have been working for a few years is "waiting in the wings for this year."

Lindsey and Stevie -- a couple from 1972 to ’76 -- interacting again is a far cry from 2018, when Stevie told Mick Fleetwood she was quitting Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham told the Los Angeles Times in 2021 that she wanted him fired to “cut herself loose…,” but she countered, “His version of events is factually inaccurate.” She said that after “an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York…I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him… We could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him. “To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired… Frankly, I fired myself… If the band went on without me, so be it.”

Buckingham denied hurting her, saying, “You could do a whole analysis on Stevie…what she’s allowed to slip away…her creativity…her level of energy… Also, she’s lonely. She’s alone.”

Manager Irving Azoff -- who fired Buckingham and whom Buckingham said “threw him under the bus” -- backed Stevie. He said, “In speaking with Stevie, her account of events are factual and truthful… His actions alone are responsible for what transpired.” Fleetwood Mac carried on for one last tour with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn replacing Buckingham. While Mick Fleetwood hopes for one more reunion, Stevie has said the band ended with Christine McVie’s death.

Lou Gramm Announces 2026 Tour

For a long time it seemed like poor health and advancing years were bringing the storied career of Lou Gramm to a quiet close. However, in recent years he has repaired his relationship with his former band Foreigner, appearing multiple times on stage with them, and has recently released his latest solo album, "Released." Now, the singer has announced a new solo tour. The trek consists of ten dates (which you can see below). The tour starts May 9 in Wabash Indiana, stopping in Roanoke Virginia, Lexington Kentucky and more before a final show in St. Charles, Missouri on October 10. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY: Debut Tribute Song and Video

Black Label Society debuted their tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on stage and on video Friday.

The clip for "Ozzy's Song" from their new album, Engines of Demolition, was posted online just after Zakk Wylde and company played the ballad live for the first time during their concert in Madison, Wisconsin. Wylde served as Ozzy's guitarist for close to three decades. You can watch the video and performance both on YouTube.

ROCK HALL: Fan Vote Recap - Week Five

With over eight-million votes cast, New Edition remains in first place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote as the voting heads into its final week.

Phil Collins, who sat atop the leaderboard for three weeks, remains in second, but some of his fellow rock acts -- INXS and Billy Idol -- took a few steps back as Shakira pole vaulted from ninth to fifth. With that, INXS goes from fifth to sixth and Wu Tang Clan ovetakes Idol who drops from seventh to ninth. And, in ballot-related news, onetime Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley has been added after initially being left off. So, that brings the number of Maiden nominees to 10 following singer Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers, along with former guitarist Dennis Stratton, former singer Paul Di'Anno and former drummer Clive Burr. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Streets of St. Paul

Bruce Springsteen starts his Land of Hope and Dreams tour this Tuesday in Minneapolis.

But he got to town early to perform before more than 100,000 protestors at the No Kings rally on Saturday in front of the capitol in St. Paul to perform his new song, "Streets of Minneapolis." It’s the second time Springsteen performed the song in the "Twin Cities."

In January he did it at A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota! which was organized by his buddy Tom Morello who will be part of his tour.

GUNS N' ROSES: One Less Member for Tour

Guns N' Roses were down one member as they started their world tour Saturday in Monterrey, Mexico. GNR posted a statement Friday morning that said "Melissa Reese will not be joining the band on tour due to unforeseen personal reasons. We hope our fans understand." Keyboardist and backing vocalist Reese joined Guns N' Roses back in 2016 when

Slash and Duff McKagan reunited with Axl Rose. GNR didn't say if there will be a replacement for Reese on the trek, which goes through Mexico and South America through April 25th before returning to the U.S. April 30th in Hollywood, Florida.

GREEN DAY, GIGI PEREZ: Give Thumbs Up to "Good" Cover

Green Day has given a thumbs up to a new cover of their Nimrod classic "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)." It's a rocked up version done by singer-songwriter Gigi Perez for the clothing company Hollister and it comes with a video that's up on YouTube. And to give it a boost Green Day shared the cover on all of their social media accounts.

WEEZER: Take Gathering on the Road

Weezer's social media teases of the past week have led to a new album, new single, new tour and a series of events in Los Angeles over the weekend. The first single from the as yet-untitled album -- their 20th -- is "Shine Again" and it will be released on April 1st. The song is written by drummer Patrick Wilson, and its the first time that he's the sole songwriter of one of the band's singles. The trek is called Weezer: The Gathering and it features The Shins and

Silversun Pickups. It kicks off September 8th in Sacramento and wraps up October 24th in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale April 3rd. To celebrate all this news the band is holding a series of events in Los Angeles called Weezer: The Gathering - Initiation Week.

Last Thursday, there was a Weezer trivia night -- "The Trial of Knowledge" -- at a location of Barney’s Beanery. Friday was "The Sunset Ceremony," billed as "a small gathering for select initiates, along with the leaders of the chapter." Saturday was the "Pinball Gauntlet," a pinball tournament where the winners played against Rivers Cuomo and Scott Shriner. And tonight (Monday) is "The Pickleball Trials," where the winners will play against the band in the finals.

A bio-pic on the late Steve Marriott and his band, Small Faces, is in development. Titled All or Nothing, it’s inspired by London’s West End musical of the same name, written by actress and writer Carol Harrison, who was friends with Marriott since she was eight. The film is described as being “seen through the eyes of a young female fan. Through their emotional connection, we uncover the complexities and contradictions that burn beneath the showman’s mask, as Steve struggles to navigate life in the spotlight, disguising his raw private turmoil and vulnerability with arrogance and caustic humor.” Production is slated to begin in the fall. Marriott died in a house fire in 1991 at 44.

Steve Miller will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ninth album, Fly Like an Eagle, by releasing a vinyl picture disc on May 15th, the same date it was released in 1976. The original album artwork is featured on Side A, while Side B features a rare photo of Miller from the Fly Like an Eagle sessions.

KISS offspring Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons, sons of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, have released "Dancing While the World Is Ending," the second song off their forthcoming album following “Body Down.” You can watch both videos on YouTube. No word on when the album will be released.
