Buc-ee’s is suing Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio, claiming the small store’s smiling cartoon beaver logo is too similar to its own and could confuse customers. The lawsuit comes shortly after “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver challenged the travel-center chain over its history of taking businesses to court over animal-themed branding. Oliver even launched a parody “Buc-off” merchandise line to benefit Hunger Free America and dared Buc-ee’s to sue the show over it. Beavercreek residents are rallying behind the longtime local store with a crowdfund and a “cash mob” event tomorrow. Buc-ee’s has not commented publicly on the dispute.
