Apple is expanding its child safety tools with new parental controls designed to help families build healthier digital habits, while also partnering with the American Academy of Pediatrics to better understand how technology affects children’s well-being. A new Ask to Browse feature will require kids to get permission before visiting new websites in Safari, joining the existing Ask to Buy tool that lets parents approve app downloads and purchases. Parents will also have more control over who their children can contact, while child accounts will automatically block adult websites and limit access to age-appropriate media. Apple is also introducing recommended screen-time allowances for both devices and individual apps, with guidelines tailored to a child’s age and informed by pediatric research.
