Ford has issued two separate recalls covering nearly 1.74 million vehicles in the U.S. due to rearview camera display problems that could increase crash risks. The first recall covers about 849-thousand of certain 2021 through 2026 Ford Broncos and 2021 through 2024 Ford Edges, where an internal component in the infotainment system can overheat and shut down, causing the rearview image to disappear when drivers are in reverse. The second recall affects about 890-thousand of certain 2020-2022 Ford Escapes and Lincoln Corsairs, plus 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviators and Explorers, which may display a flipped or inverted rearview image. Ford says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries tied to either issue. A free software fix is available for Bronco and Edge owners, with owner notification letters being mailed this month; a remedy for the other models is still in development.
