The Hot New Trend: Taking A "Sleepcation"

You know the saying (or at least the feeling) of "I need a vacation after my vacation?" Taking a break can be exhausting. There's a new trend that will actually make you feel more rested after your time off: "sleepcations." People are paying big bucks to check into a high-end hotels and...just sleep. According to the "Wall Street Journal," luxury hotels are now offering “sleep suites” equipped with AI-powered beds, soundproofing, and even "sleep concierges" to help you drift off. Adulting usually means living in a perennial state of exhaustion; even staying home and resting allows the temptations of the phone, emails and proximity to work. "Sleepcations" not only get you away from the daily grind, but put relaxation at the center of your time away. It's an idea whose time has come: According to Skyscanner’s 2024 travel trends report, nearly 50-percent of American travelers surveyed say they are more mindful about sleep health now compared to a few years ago. The same research showed that “sleeping” topped the list of U.S. travelers’ main activities for their next vacation, outranking shopping, nightlife and wildlife spotting.
