AI use is causing new problems on college campuses, but this time it's professors who are getting in trouble. While teachers used to complain about students using AI, now students are getting upset about their professors relying on it too much. On websites like Rate My Professors, students are complaining that their teachers depend too heavily on AI for things like making lectures.
College professors told Fortune that using AI for class prep and grading has become "pervasive." They say the real problem isn't using AI, but that teachers are hiding how and why they use it. One of the biggest issues is AI grading. A recent study found that 92-percent of students now use AI in some way, up from 66-percent last year, and some professors have given up trying to read papers carefully because they assume students wrote them with AI help. As one professor put it, it's become "bots talking to bots."
