Basketball Hall of Famer Dick Vitale claimed that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark faces "pure jealousy" after she was voted among her peers than the fan vote for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

Clark led all players in fan votes, which accounts for 50%, and third among media votes, which accounts for 25% behind only Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream and Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, but was selected ninth among WNBA players, which accounts for 25%.

"Absolutely PURE JEALOUSY that ⁌⁊@WNBA players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th best guard. Some day they will realize what she Has done for ALL of the players in the WNBA. Charted planes - increase in salaries-sold out crowds - improved TV Ratings," Vitale wrote on his X account.

Clark, who has missed seven games due to an initial quad and later groin injury, is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals for the Fever, who won the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Tuesday (July 1) night. The former University of Iowa star's emergence as college basketball's all-time leading scorer and the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft has led to record viewership for women's basketball at both the collegiate and professional levels, as mentioned by Vitale.

Clark has also been targeted for hard fouls since her WNBA debut, which has led to debates from many pundits.
