A 20-year-old man from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, eloped with his 40-year-old soon-to-be mother-in-law just nine days before his scheduled wedding. The groom, Rahul, was set to marry Shivani on Wednesday, but on April 6th, he left home under the pretense of shopping for wedding clothes but later informed his father that he was leaving and should not be searched for. Simultaneously, Shivani discovered that her mother, Anita, along with their family's savings, had vanished.
Both Shivani and her father, Kumar, had seen the unusually close relationship between Rahul and Anita over the last few months months, including frequent phone conversations. However, they chose not to intervene to avoid causing problems for the wedding. Kumar, who operates a business in Bengaluru and is often away, has filed a missing persons report in hopes of locating his wife and Rahul.
