Paramount kicked off its CinemaCon slate with the first teaser for “The Naked Gun,” a reboot of the classic cop parody series. Hitting theaters August 1st, the film stars Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic character. In the teaser, Neeson’s Drebin foils a bank robbery while dressed as a schoolgirl licking a lollipop, then coolly declaring he’s “Frank Drebin, Police Squad. The new version.” Akiva Schaffer, of The Lonely Island/”SNL” fame, directs, with Seth MacFarlane producing. The highly anticipated reboot features a stacked cast that includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Liza Koshy, and more. The sequel appears to lean into the franchise’s signature absurdity even featuring a nod to its O.J. Simpson-era past. You can check out the trailer here.
