Power Is Out For Entire Country Of Sri Lanka Because Of A Monkey

A monkey in Sri Lanka managed to knock out power across the country after touching a transformer inside a power substation. The curious little monkey left 22-million people in the dark and set off a firestorm of criticism online. Jamila Husain, editor-in-chief of “Daily Mirror” said, “Only in Sri Lanka can a group of monkeys fighting inside a power station cause an island-wide power outage.”

Officials say wildlife interfering with power lines isn’t new, but this was one of the biggest blackouts caused by an animal. The incident has sparked concerns about how well power stations are protected from unexpected disruptions. You know, like fighter monkeys.
