As we mark Giving Tuesday today, the World Giving Index ranks the U.S. as the sixth-most charitable nation in the world. The index found Americans gave almost $560-billion to charity last year, most of which came directly from individuals. Americans also gave their time, with more than 60-million people volunteering more than four-billion hours in 2023. The most charitable state in the union using these metrics is Wyoming, followed by Utah, Minnesota, Maine and Delaware.
