Americans Expected To Spend $33.5Billion On Mother’s Day

A National Retail Federation survey estimates that Americans will spend about $33.5-billion this Mother’s Day, the second highest in the survey’s history, but a little lower than last year. The survey also finds that about 84% of U.S. adults plan to celebrate and that they’ll spend an average of $254.04 each for the holiday, with those ages 35 to 44 spending the most. Flowers are the most popular gift as usual, followed closely by greeting cards, and outings like dinner or brunch are third most popular. Total spending on flowers is expected to be more than $3-billion and card sales are expected to reach over $1-billion.
