Wolfgang Van Halen has shared an emotional letter to his late-father, Eddie Van Halen, one year since Eddie passed away from cancer at 65.

Wolfie's band Mammoth WVH wrapped up a hugely successful tour with Guns N' Roses this past weekend.

On Tuesday, Wolfie noted that it was exactly six years since his last performance with Van Halen.

"It was the last show we ever did, and it was the last show I ever played with my Dad," Wolfgang wrote. "I'll never forget it."

Wednesday morning, the one-year anniversary of Eddie's death, Wolfie ruminated more thoroughly on the past 12 months — from the loss of his father to the release of his debut single, "Distance," to the success of his Mammoth WVH solo album and his band's inaugural tour.

He shared a treasured photo of Eddie patting him on the head backstage during what looks like a pre-show warmup. He poured his thoughts into the caption.

One year.
You fought so hard for so long, but you were still taken away. It’s just so unfair.
I’m not ok. I don’t think I’ll ever be ok. There’s so much I wish I could show you. So many things I wish I could share with you. I wish I could laugh with you again. I wish I could hug you again. I miss you so much it hurts.
I’m trying to do my best here without you, but it’s really fucking hard. I hope you’re still proud.
I love you with all of my heart, Pop. Watch over me.

Wolfie will perform at the AfterShock Festival tomorrow, (Thursday, October 7), get a few days off, and then wrap up his 2021 touring with a final run of shows through the Shaky Knees Festival, Oct. 23.
