The idea is for the scammer to get you to say the word yes, so they have the recording and can use it to bilk you out of money, on average $15-hundred. - “Sorry, the connection is bad. Can you hear me?”
- “I can’t hear you. Are you there?”
- “Is this [insert your name]?”
- “Are you the homeowner?”
- “Is this the lady/man of the house?”
