Some people go all out for the holidays, but nobody does Halloween like Macy Blackwell. The Texas mom of two started posting about her Halloween spirit on social media back in 2019, sharing themed recipes and decor she dressed her home up with for the spooky season. But over the years, the content creator has grown her following - she now has more than 4-million followers - and was crowned the “Queen of Halloween” online, a title that doesn’t come cheap.
When Blackwell started sharing her tips, hacks and ideas for Halloween food and decorations, she was a stay-at-home mom with a budget of a couple hundred dollars to do it. Now, she goes much bigger, spending more than $100-thousand on the holiday every year between the decorations and her annual blowout Halloween party. Just her storage for the seasonal items, like those huge skeletons, runs about $10-thousand.
But being Halloween royalty to the Internet hasn’t changed her focus from the simplicity of her content. Blackwell knows that her viewers want to see things they can easily recreate at home without spending a lot of time or money. "I'm obviously not a chef, and I don't have any interior design degree or anything like that,” she explains. “I just love to make things fun. I love food, I love decorating, and I think it took off so well because it was stuff that really anyone could do."
