Brad Pitt Is Set To Produce A New Chris Cornell Documentary

Brad Pitt has been a self-proclaimed "Chris Cornell addict" since the early-aughts and a good friend to the late rockstar for over a decade. Now, the actor is paying homage to the Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman by producing a new documentary about his life with director Peter Berg through their joint production company, Film 45. As Variety reports, Chris' widow, Vicky Cornell, will serve as co-producer. Berg (Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon) is set to direct.

Pitt was in attendance at the star-studded tribute concert in Los Angeles last month, I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell, which featured performances by past bandmates, as well as Miley Cyrus, MetallicaFiona Apple, Josh Homme, and others. Cornell has received 16 Grammy awards throughout his career, including a posthumous gramophone this year for his previously unreleased track, "When Bad Does Good." His daughter Toni and son Christopher accepted the award on his behalf.

"I never thought we would be standing here without my dad," said Christopher during their emotional acceptance speech. "I'm sure he would be proud and honored. He was a rock icon, the Godfather of grunge and a creator of a movement. While he touched the hearts of millions, the most important thing he is known for, for us, is for being the greatest father and our hero."

Toni added: "His voice was his vision and his music was his peace ... thank you to our mom — his love, his muse and his savior who continues to carry out our father's legacy ... this is for you, daddy."
