What better time to unveil a new statue at Shenandoah University than homecoming weekend? Officials were able to show off the new hornet mascot statue Buzzy. This 2,000 pound 10 foot tall bad boy sits in front of the James R. Wilkins Jr. Athletic and Events Center. Created by Sioux Falls South Dakota Based Bronze Age Art Casting. Using a 3D Printer they were able to create Buzzy. Welding together 75 pieces and coating the finished product with a paraffin wax. The whole thing took about 900 hours to put together. According to the president of bronze age art casting Rick Hogan it was the most fun they have had in awhile. I gotta say the thing is pretty impressive.
