World's Largest Snake Shot Dead In Amazon

A gigantic Northern Green Anaconda that lived deep in the Amazon Forest of Brazil has been found dead near the Formoso River. This reptile, known as Ana Julia, was 26 feet long and weighed more than 440 pounds and had experts confirming she was as thick as a car tire with a head the size of a human.

Unfortunately, Ana Julia was found shot in the head by hunters over the weekend. Dutch biologist Professor Freek Vonk, who’s even made headlines swimming alongside her, voiced his outrage at the news, saying, “How sick do you have to be to do this to such a beautiful and unique animal?” After noting that Ana Julia “could have produced many offspring in the years to come,” Vonk added, “I hope the perpetrators are found and prosecuted because this kind of behavior must be severely punished.”
