A police officer answered a domestic dispute call in Southern New Hampshire.  He was fatally shot when he arrived at the house, according to the New York Post.

About an hour later, the house burst into flames.  The man who shot the police officer apparently died in the flames.

Officer Stephen Arkell was 48.  Governor Maggie Hassan released a statement saying, "Like so many of our first responders do on a daily basis, Officer Arkell courageously put his life on the line to protect others, and in doing so, was tragically taken far too soon."

Michael Nolan was 47.  He's the son of the homeowner.
